'Players' is Abhishek and my film: Sonam Kapoor

Players may have big names like Bipasha Basu, Bobby Deol and Neil Nitin Mukesh but Sonam Kapoor says the multi-starrer film belongs to her and co-star Abhishek Bachchan.

The 26-year-old actress, who will be seen opposite Abhishek after Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's 'Dilli 6', said she plays the lead in every multi-starrer. "I have always been the lead in my multi-starrer films. Abhishek and I were the lead in 'Dilli 6', 'Thank You' was about me and Akshay, 'Aisha' was all me and even now 'Players' is about Abhishek and I. The onus is on me as a lead. But at the same time there are so many supporting people in the film who help you make it a better product," Sonam told PTI.

'Players', which is a remake of the Hollywood action thriller 'The Italian Job', will see Sonam in a rebellious avatar after playing a demure role in her last film 'Mausam'. "My character Naina resembles what I am in my real life. She is rebellious but at the same time she is nice. Just out of college, she is a computer whiz-kid who agrees to be the part of a gold heist, where she has to hack the system to get valuable information, just because she is crazy for Abhishek in the film," she said.

Her co-star Bipasha's bikini shots in the film are being talked about and Sonam too has got a funky wardrobe designed by her younger sister Rhea Kapoor. "I feel Rhea has done a fabulous job in the film. Her garments have done wonders to my character. She has understood my character quite well and have designed clothes accordingly," Sonam said.

She had to lose weight to look more edgy for the character and soon Sonam will be seen donning a bikini for an upcoming project. "This year my audience will see me in a sexy body. I had to undergo a particular weight training for 'Players'. I am also taking classes for power and vikram yoga because I want to have the best body," she added.

Sonam spreads breast cancer awareness

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor is urging all women to wear pink to work on October 21 to spread breast cancer awareness.
The 26-year-old actress, who is the brand ambassador of the Ogaan Cancer Foundation, is spearheading its campaign where employees of the participating companies wear pink to office on Friday to support the cause.

"Everyone seems to know someone with breast cancer - I lost an aunt to it. Detecting cancer early is the only way to fight and that requires awareness about tests and a healthy lifestyle. I'm very happy to support the OCF team on this very special initiative, as they continue to show earnestness and a sense of dedicated purpose. I hope I can make a difference in my own way," said Sonam.

Archana Pillai, director of Ogaan Cancer Foundation, said in a statement, "With the Wear Pink to Work Day program, we hope to reach a new target audience for our message, and raise awareness among men as well. After all, we know women are often self-sacrificing, putting their own needs last. It's time for us to acknowledge that a woman's health should be a family priority too."

With October designated as breast cancer awareness month globally, the Ogaan Cancer Foundation along with the ELLE Breast Cancer Campaign also has other pink ribbon promotions to raise awareness and funds.Suspected encephalitis in Gaya killed 46 children in 2009, 49 in 2008 and 29 in 2007, a district official said.

'Mausam' is my first love story: Sonam

She is a fan of classic romances of Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters and Sonam Kapoor says that portraying the coy beauty Ayaat, a Kashmiri girl, in 'Mausam' felt like being part of a period novel.

The 26-year-old also calls the film her first love story and her most difficult role so far. She stars opposite Shahid Kapoor in the movie, which got delayed by a week following objections from Indian Air Force regarding some action scenes. The film will release on September 23 now.

The actress, who is most remembered for her bubbly avatars of Bittu in 'Delhi 6' and 'Aisha', says 'Mausam', set 15-years back, reinstated her faith in love. "The character is complete opposite of who I am. It is very difficult to say something with just one look or one gesture. This is tough acting. My characters in Delhi 6 and Aisha were loud and had lots of props but this role was difficult," Sonam told PTI in an interview.

"I am a very romantic person and the film, which is about four seasons of love, reinstated my faith love. This is why when I was in Edinburgh, which is the second season in the movie, I felt like I was a part of Emily Bronte's 'Wuthering Heights'," says Sonam.

Ever the romantic, the actress enjoyed the languidness and the innocence of her character in the movie. "My character in this film has a lot of depth, nobility and subtlety. Every tear and expression says something and if there is a line, it has to convey a wealth of meaning. I was like 'Nutan used to do it'. So I watched all the old movies of Nutan so that I could learn something from her," says the actress.

Sonam Kapoor supports Anna Hazare

Actress Sonam Kapoor, who is busy promoting her upcoming film ''Mausam'', is the latest from Bollywood to voice support for Anna Hazare.

The 26-year-old actress, like most from the film industry, took to her twitter account to announce her support.
"I''ve got hundreds of tweets asking me if I support Anna Hazare. Yes I do! He''s a great man. And his cause is greater," she posted.
Sonam, however, did not confirm whether she will join the Gandhian at Ramlila ground during her promotional visit to the capital.
She also talked about her film, which has been directed by Pankaj Kapoor and stars Shahid opposite her.
"Mausam is a beautiful story about an extraordinary love between two people. The music is out guys. You will totally love it," she tweeted.
