John to play gangster in 'Shoot Out At Wadala'

After playing a cop in Nishikant Kamath's 'Force', John Abraham is stepping into the grey zone with his character of a dreaded gangster of 70s in 'Shoot Out At Wadala'.

The film also marks Sanjay Gupta's return to direction  after a gap of four years. The director is known for making action-thrillers like 'Kaante', 'Musafir', 'Zinda', 'Shootout at Lokhandwala'.

Gupta says the dramatic thriller about the gangster Manya  Surve will see John go through a major transformation. "Story of Manya Surve needs a good actor. Also, there is a certain physicality to this character. John will go through a massive transformation," said Gupta, who last directed John in 'Zinda'.

"John would be seen in a different light altogether as  this character would grow from the 60s, establish itself in the 70s and then eventually reach its culmination in the early  80s. John has never played a role like this before." The actor is known for his sophisticated image onscreen but Gupta is confident that he will pull the role of a desi gangster with equal ease.

"Shahrukh started off with a 'Baazigar'. Anil Kapoor was  seen in a new light after 'Tezaab', Sanjay Dutt got furtheracclaim as an actor for 'Vaastav', Saif was hailed furthermore  as an actor after 'Omkara'. All negative roles. This is atrend that you cannot ignore," said Gupta. A co-production of Ekta Kapoor and Sanjay Gupta, 'Shoot Out At Wadala' is produced by Anil Kapoor and goes on floors in December and would be ready for release in late 2012.

John says 'Force' measures up 'Ghayal'

Actor John Abraham feels that his upcoming film 'Force' has raw and real action that is similar to Sunny Deol's 'Ghayal'.

'Force', which is directed by Nishikant Kamath, is an action-thriller, in which, John is essaying the role of a cop.

"This film ('Force') has that real and raw action. And last time you saw this real action was when Sunny Deol used to do 'Ghayal', 'Arjun Pandit'... that real action that he did... dhai kilo ka haath. And I think the masses like size and hard hitting action," John said.

"In terms of action in the movie, it is all real and raw action film. We have tried to avoid cables as far as possible and have used it only when safety is concerned. It is not like you kick or punch and leaves the goons suspended in the air.

After 'Ghayal' this is the real raw film in the action genre," he said.

However, John praises his co-actors Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn for making the action genre popular with their films like 'Wanted', 'Dabangg' and 'Singham' respectively. "It is not like Salman, Ajay and me decided that we all will do remakes and do action films at around same time...it was just a coincidence.

I am happy that Salman's films are doing good and even Ajay's film 'Singham' did well and I am too happy for him. I think Ajay truly deserves it. If one can remember Ajay's performance in 'Aakrosh'... his action in the movie is superlative. He is a brilliant action hero," John said.

"I always wanted to become an action hero. I just hope I get more action roles after this film. I enjoy this space.

This film ('Force') is not all about stunts and action-action. It is a romantic-action-thriller film...romance is beautiful in this movie," he said. 'Force', a remake of the Tamil film 'Kaakha Kaakha', and also starring Genelia D'Souza, releases this Friday.

John Abraham takes off on reality shows

One star who isn't too excited about the reality show wave that's hit Indian television in full force is John Abraham.

The actor has taken off on reality shows in his forthcoming film Vipul  Shah's Force .

Essaying the role of ACP Yashvardhan,John in a confrontation scene, talks  about how today’s youth do not have police or army ambitions but are the first to jump the gun when it comes to participating in reality shows –  Says John "Its important for the youth today to start taking interest in socially relevant issues..Its easy to sit across the television screen and be entertained but it really takes courage to go out there and fight crime and put your life on the line for the country"

The otherwise reticent John Abraham was very keen on including the scene in the film, in spite of peer groups having certain reservations.

Says a source "The film was screened in bits to check for reactions and the  scene did garner some doubt with the dialogue .However the producers and John were very keen on sticking to the scene after acquiring permissions from the censor board"

In spite of not being in favor of reality shows, John would be visiting them to promote his films after much convincing .

My break-up made me mature: John

He never discussed about the ups and downs in his relationship in public but Bollywood actor John Abraham says his break-up with Bipasha Basu has made him mature enough to deal with life.

John, 38, dated Basu for ten years and the couple split rencently.

“I have become mature in life. I must say that every relationship helps you to grow in life and makes you mature.

If today I am sitting here and discussing about my personal life which I had never done before, you can easily gauge that how much I am enjoying my space and time now,” John said.

“I am happy that now I have time for myself and my ailing parents. They are not keeping well and I am devoting all my time to them,” he added.

Professionally also John is enjoying the current phase of his career. He believes his forthcoming release ‘Force’, Tamil remake of ‘KaakhaKaakha’, will enable himself to make a mark in the genre of hardcore action.

“After ‘Dhoom’, I’ve not attempted any action film. So, my fans were a little disappointed with me. Many pointed out that I have the physique and strength, therefore I should attempt a hard core action film. And post this film I think people will find me in the action hero slot,” John said during a Van Heusen store launch in the Capital.

But he says, it was not intentional to join the league of action heroes of Bollywood.

“I think it’s all a sheer coincidence that I am playing the character of a cop. We had never planned that all of us will play the character of an outrageous cop. But I feel Salman bhai and Ajay Devgn have brilliantly don the character,” he added.

John dislikes tattoos

John Abraham the only guy who has the best body in the industry hates getting tattooed for the sole reason he doesn't like people who make thier body go through such pain and torture.
He has always been against it. No wonder he has the best body. He doesn't allow his body to be tortured.
John is very strict about his health and is against it getting abused.

He wonders why do people get tattoos? One's body is their temple and should be kept like that and taken care off.

One needs to take utmost care of their body and treat it well.

And that's what he does to his body. For John his body is of utmost imporatnce. He takes very good care of his body by eating right and working out well to be in good shape.

John never misses working out. He makes sure he hits the gym no matter how late he gets back from his shoot.

Even when he was in London for his shoots, he never went partying. And people were quite surprised to see this.
He might look like a party person. But is completely the opposite of it. He jus likes to have parties with his friends.

Tattooing one's body could have side effects at times and wouldnt want his body to go though any pain or problems.
