A Barbie doll on Amy Jackson?

After Katrina Kaif it's "Ek Deewana Tha" actress Amy Jackson's turn to be crafted into a Barbie doll.
Jackson has reportedly been approached by a leading doll company, who also made Kaif's lookalike doll, to design a collection inspired by her.

"Amy was modelling before Bollywood happened to her. She has always wanted to act and it was a stroke of luck that she got a break in Bollywood.

"The company approached her recently, after they saw some pictures of her and thought that she fit the bill. Katrina was a very well known name when the company approached her but expressing interest in Amy was a surprise to us. She is a tall, petite girl with delicate features and they thought she was the right fit for a doll to be designed on her," said a source close to Jackson.

Born to a British family, Jackson made her debut in Bollywood this year opposite Prateik in box office flop "Ek Deewana Tha".

The 21-year-old is currently in the US to judge a teen beauty pageant competition. The brand will have a US special edition of dolls and an Indian edition as well.

Not first actress to show bare back: Paoli Dam

Her bare back in "Hate Story" poster and the explicit trailer have already ensured Paoli Dam a sensational debut in Bollywood but the Bengali beauty is not perturbed about being typecast as a sex symbol in the industry.

Dam says she does not find anything shocking in the content or her role of a revenge seeking woman in the Vikram Bhatt film.

"As an actor, I feel boldness is just a mindset, It's not just about wearing less clothes and showing your bare back on-screen. I am not the first one to do that. There are many actresses who did it before.

"I don't think it will typecast me because I can't repeat myself. I am an actress and it's my job to bring out something new everytime. I don't like my career to be monotonous. I am getting many offers of lead roles in Hindi films and they are completely different to what I have done in this film," Dam told PTI.

Maryam Zakaria to do item number in 'Rowdy Rathore'

Iranian beauty Maryam Zakaria, who made her foray into Bollywood with Saif Ali Khan-starrer
'Agent Vinod', will be doing an item number in upcoming flick 'Rowdy Rathore' featuring Akshay Kumar.

Maryam was seen grooving alongside Kareena Kapoor in the spy thriller in the 'mujra' song 'Dil Mera Muft Ka' and will now sway to a fast-paced item song in 'Rowdy Rathore' directed by Prabhu Deva.

"I am doing an item song in 'Rowdy Rathore'. In the song I have an Indian look. It is a catchy, fast-paced song. I don't dance with Akshay or Sonakshi in the song," Maryam told PTI

Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ronnie Screwvala, 'Rowdy Rathore', remake of Telugu film 'Vikramarkudu', features Akshay Kumar in a double-role opposite Sonakshi Sinha and is slated for release in June.

The item number is choreographed by none other than prolific dancer Prabhu Deva himself and Maryam admits that she struggled to get the right moves.

"Prabhudeva has a unique style of dance which is tough. I am happy that I am getting to do something different. It was a challenge to do a song choreographed by him, but I loved doing
it," she said.

Responding to a buzz that the item number was initially offered to actress Karishma Kapoor, Maryam says, "I am not aware if Karishma was offered this song or not... I am happy with the fact that this offer came to me."

Maryam, who was born in Iran and brought up in Sweden, has acted in Tamil and Telugu films and is intending to make it big in Bollywood.

"I had a special appearance in Hindi film 'Paying Guest' (2009). I got this offer for 'Agent Vinod' and now 'Rowdy Rathore', my patience has in a way paid off. I want to do major lead roles in Bollywood... I am meeting directors and reading scripts," she said.

Maryam said she would continue doing item numbers provided the offers excite her. "Today, even several big actresses are doing item songs, so why shy away from it," she added.

Manisha to make a comeback in Bollywood

Actress Manisha Koirala, best known for her performances in films like 'Khamoshi', '1942: A Love Story', 'Bombay' and 'Dil Se', is set to make a sort of comeback in Bollywood after a brief break.

"I will talk about my films later. Because I don't know when the directors and producers are ready to make an announcement. But there are three films whose script I have okayed. I am meeting two more directors, I am okaying those scripts as well," Manisha told reporters here last night. "This year I will be working (on these films)... so next year would be a kind of comeback," she said. The 42-year-old Nepali-Indian actress made her acting debut in Bollywood with Subhash Ghai's 'Saudagar' (1991), which was a huge hit.

After years of success, she was later seen in several low-budget films like 'Paisa Vasool' (2004), 'Sirf' (2008) and a few others, which were box office dud. Recently, it was reported that Madhur Bhandarkar's much-awaited film 'Heroine' is inspired by Manisha's life. Bhandarkar has, however, denied such reports.

Soha moves HC against Roseby for dues

Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan has approached the Gujarat High Court against a city-based firm for alleged non-payment of dues.

The matter came up before Justice K M Thakar last week, who issued a notice to Rosebys Interiors India Ltd, the respondent firm, seeking a reply by March 12.

Soha signed up to promote Rosebys products in 2008. The products included bedding, curtains, bathroom textiles, etc.

However, the company did not pay her over Rs 90 lakh as per the agreement, the petition said.

Lisa Haydon's sis Malika does item number

Model-actress Lisa Haydon's sister Malika will be seen in an item number in Saif Ali Khan's home production, 'Agent Vinod'.

Malika has featured in a Pepsi commercial with cricketing legends like Shane Warne and Sachin Tendulkar. Her younger sibling Lisa has already featured in a couple of films such as 'Aisha' (2010) and 'Rascals' (2011).


Malika will make her Bollywood debut with an item number titled 'I'll do the talking' in action-spy movie 'Agent Vinod'. "A prerequisite that an 'Agent Vinod' girl has to be stunning and absolutely gorgeous wasn't enough for the track 'I'll Do The Talking.

The idea was to have a mainstay, who could really hold it together and drive the song. We searched, we short-listed and it wasn't really rocket science...It had to be Malika Hayden," says the film's co-producer and Saif's business partner, Dinesh Vijan.

Padmapriya to start innings in Bengali films

With a string of hits in the south to her credit, actress Padmapriya Janakiraman is all set to start her innings in Bengal with 'Aparajita Tumi' by director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury.

The trained 'Bharatnatyam' danseuse, having acted in at least 30 movies in such languages as Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and even Hindi, said she had been nursing a wish for a long time to act in Bengali films.

"And when Tonyda (Aniruddha) approached me for acting in his next film, I lapped it up. In addition, I got to be paired with fabulous actor Bumbada (Prosenjit). What else can one expect to have a perfect launch in Bengali films?" Padmapriya wondered.

She said though she can't speak Bengali, she never felt out of sync, partly because she shot many scenes in San Fransisco and some other parts in the United States.

Asked if she was interested in working with directors like Srijit Mukherjee of 'Autograph' fame, she said, "From my experience I feel if the process is right the output always more or less hits the bull's eye and then it does not matter if you are making a 'Baishe Shrabon' (Srijit's last acclaimed film) or 'Aparajita Tumi'."

She said Srijit was a colleague and friend at Symphony in Bangalore and had worked together and shared a common interest in theatre. a director pursuing his dreams. As an actress I am totally open to offers as an individual and want to treat every opportunity with same spirit," Padmapriya said.

"Though I can't speak in Bengali, I have been to your place many times and follow the conversations in general. My mom stayed in your city," she gushed. On her future assignments elsewhere, Padmapriya said she would act in Tamil film 'Thangameengal' (director Ram, Gautam Menon Productions), 'Malayalam Cobra' (director Lal) co-starring Mamooty, (Playhouse Productions), 'Malyalam No 66 Madurai Bus' (director MA Nishad costarring Pasupathy and Makarand Deshpande) and 'Malyalam Evan Megharoopan' (director Balakrishna) as the ones she was counting really.

She said though she had acted opposite most of southern actors, two of them she is still to work with - Mahesh Babu and Surya.

Sunny Leone confirmed in Pooja Bhatt's 'Jism 2'

Director Pooja Bhatt has ended the mystery about the naked girl behind the wet white sheet in the teaser poster of 'Jism 2' by confirming Canadian porn star Sunny Leone as the lead.

Leone came to the limelight in India with her stint in the fifth season of controversial reality show 'Bigg Boss'.

She was offered a role in the movie when Mahesh Bhatt entered the show briefly to meet her. But it was not official.

"Promised the mid-night hour but wanted to savor the moment and joy of announcing that Sunny Leone has signed Jism 2! May the speculation end," Pooja wrote on Twitter.

The poster of the film with a mystery girl behind the wet white sheet, also created quite a frenzy among fans and Bhatt had promised to unveil the face tonight at 12.

Mahesh Bhatt also tweeted his delight of Leone signing the sequel of 2003 hit film 'Jism', which starred Bipasha Basu and John Abraham. "Sunny Leone is the heroine of Pooja Bhatt's 'Jism 2'.

Bhatt soon to meet Sunny Leone

Its much awaited Sunny Leone to come on the big screen, Mahesh Bhatt is just planning to meet her after returning from Darjeeling trip accompanied by her daughter Pooja Bhatt.

Mahesh Bhatt, with daughter Pooja, is off to Darjeeling to attend a film festival in the Hills and decide if 'Jism 2' can be shot there.

Mahesh Bhatt will be off to Darjeeling on January 4 to attend the Darjeeling Film Festival. Accompanying Bhatt on this trip to Darjeeling is his actor-turned-director daughter, Pooja Bhatt.

For those not in the loop, Bhatt is planning to shoot one of his next productions in Darjeeling where he have fond memories of shooting in Darjeeling and Kalingpong in 1978 for "Lahu Ke Do Rang". The movie had Shabana Azmi, Vinod Khanna and Danny Denzongpa.

That was the first time that Bhatt had shot in the hills. When asked to attend this film festival, Bhatt wanted to go and check out the place. Darjeeling is the jewel of West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee has successfully diffused the tension in the Hills and certainly think it's about time to explore the hill station as a shooting destination again.

Sunny Leone looks forward to B'wood debut

Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone's stint on Bigg Boss may have ended, but the actress is
looking forward to making her big Bollywood debut with Mahesh Bhatt's 'Jism 2'.

Bhatt had entered the Bigg Boss house to meet Sunny andffer her a role in the sequel to the hit 2003 film, which is being made by his daughter Pooja Bhatt. And after stepping out of the show, Sunny now wants to meet Bhatt and discuss her role.

"I am looking forward to meeting Mahesh Bhatt. I am really excited about my Bollywood debut. I am honoured to get an opportunity of working with him. "At first I didn't really know who he was but after knowing that he is such a respectable man outside I am happy
to start a career here," Sunny told PTI.

"I want to know what he expects out of me as an actress and what will be my role," she added. 'Jism 2' is a sequel to the 2003 release which starred Bipasha Basu and John Abraham in the lead.

Introduced to Hindustani classical music when they were just babies, Zeb and Haniya, of popular girl band d uo from Pakistan say they were "quite shocked" when they learnt that melody queen Lata Mangeshkar was not from Pakistan.

"In our childhood, the cable TV in our area used to catch Doordarshan so "Chitrahar" became a regular. We grew up listing to those songs, without knowing that this music is from India - a different country. For us, it was music, our music, the borders were irrelevant. It was only when we grew up that geography dawned on us," says Zeb who is visiting India with cousin Haniya.

Bringing memories of 'Naino Mein Sapna'

Actress Kulraj Randhawa of 'Yamla Pagla Deewana', will be next seen with Tusshar Kapoor in 'Char Din Ki Chandni' replicating the famous dance steps of Jeetendra and Sridevi from their 80s hit song 'Naino Mein Sapna'.

For this song, Tusshar has tried his best to copy his father Jeetendra's trendsetting moves from 'Himmatwala'. The film, directed by Sameer Karnik has many such light moments and also includes the famous number 'Tu meri Chandini' from Rishi Kapoor-Sridevi starrer 'Chandini'.

Legendary Bollywood actor Dev Anand dies

Dev Anand, the 'Evergreen Romantic Superstar' of Indian cinema, has passed away here last night following cardiac arrest. He was 88.

Dev Anand, who had come here for medical check up, was not keeping well for the last few days, family sources told PTI. His son Sunil was with him when he breathed last.

Dev Anand made his debut as an actor in 1946 in "Hum Ek Hain". By the time his "Ziddi" was released in 1947 he was a superstar and has never looked back. Versatile Dev Anand has given countless hits like "Paying Guest", "Baazi", "Jewel Thief ", "CID", "Johny Mera Naam", "Amir Garib", "Warrant", "Hare Rama Hare Krishna" and "Des Pardes".

Paula wants to work with Aishwarya

Hollywood actress Paula Patton, who would be seen in the Tom Cruise starrer upcoming film 'Mission Impossible- Ghost Protocol', says, she would love to work with Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan. "I love Aishwarya Rai and would love to work with her. She is really a good-looking woman and a good actress," Paula said.

Paula was present at the Imax Wadala Multiplex, along with the film's lead actor Tom Cruise to promote the upcoming film in India. Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, who plays a role in the film, was also present on the occasion. Paula also praised Anil Kapoor, describing him as a "very good actor".

"India is a huge market. Indian movies are accepted by audiences almost everywhere. There are lots of fans for Bollywood movies abroad. The industry over here is doing pretty good," Paula told reporters here. "India is a spiritual place. The people over here are heartwarming. I would love to come here again," she said. Paula would be seen essaying the role of a secret agent - Jane Carter alongside Tom in the film.

"Tom is a great actor and a producer. He is inspirational. I have always loved him and the 'Mission Impossible' series. It is dream come true for me," she said. The film releases in India on December 16. 

Tom Cruise ready to act in

Hollywood heartthrob Tom Cruise seems to have smitten by Bollywood. The actor, who is on a promotional spree for the fourth installment of the 'Mission Imposssible' series in the city, said he would love to act in Hindi films.

"I love watching Hindi movies. There are many Hindi movies that come out every year but I do watch a few of them. (If offered a Bollywood film) I would never say no. I would love to do it," the 49-year-old actor said here. He was speaking to reporters after screening of the film 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol' which was held at IMAX in suburban Wadala and was attended by about 1500 people this evening.
