Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt today expressed solidarity with the family of arrested Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, whom he described as "a real hero". Mahesh Bhatt met the officer's wife Shweta and other family members at their residence here.
"I have seen a lot of reel heroes, but today I have come to meet the family of a real hero, and to salute him for showing such courage," Bhatt said. "I kissed the hand of Sanjiv's mother and said she was blessed with a son who is a real hero," he added.
Rule of law must prevail in the state and whistle blowers like Sanjiv need to be protected, the veteran filmmaker added.
Bhatt, who has accused Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi of complicity in the 2002 communal riots, was arrested on September 30 on charges of fabricating evidence after an FIR was filed by a police constable.
