Thousands of fans gathered to cheer Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor at his first live concert, organised to promote his soon-to-be-released film 'Rockstar'.The event was held at Bhavans College ground in suburban Andheri here last night.
At the concert, Ranbir was accompanied by the Oscar-winning music composer A R Rahman, playback singer Mohit Chauhan, music arranger Ranjit Barot, percussion guru Sivamani and lead actress Nargis Fakhri, among others.
'Saadda Haq', the song that has become quite a rage among the youth, was the highlight of the concert. The ecstatic fans could be seen humming the lyrics of the song, when it was being played. Rahman, Mohit Chauhan and Javed Ali then went on to sing 'Phir Se Ud Chala', 'Jo Bhi Main', 'Kun Faaya Kun', 'Katiyan Karun', 'Nadaan Parinde' and 'Tum Ho', all songs from the
film.
The makers of the film planned the concert as they thought would be a unique way to promote the film. Ranbir, who is playing Janardhan Jordan, the lead character in the film,is said to have learnt the guitar. During the announcement of the concert a few days ago, Ranbir had said, "I am not nervous about the concert. But I am excited about sharing stage with A R Rahman. I believe I am not a rockstar and Rahman sir is a true Rockstar."
The film, directed by Imtiaz Ali, stars model Nargis Fakhri in the lead role.'Rockstar' also stars late veteran actor Shammi Kapoor, making it the Bollywood legend's last screen appearance. It will release on November 11.
